Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal 2023 Betting Favourites
Country: Canada
Level: World Tour
Style: One Day
Generally it's not always the case that the winner of the Quebec classic on the Friday wins or does well at the Montreal classic on the Sunday. The climb and parcours are too different.
Matej Mohorič is showing up and we expect he'll be a bit down after not nabbing a podium spot at the Renewi Tour he was training for, and hence have some motivation, especially given the climb profile to make an attempt.
But unfortunately the start list is rather stacked, with the likes of Healy, Hirschi, McNulty, and both Yates all expected to show.
Previous Winners
You can see how being a climber helps. Somehow Pogačar outsprinted the likes of Wout van Aert last year. That was hard to forget. Likely you'll have a group at the end of Moho, Healy, Hirschi, Yates, and McNulty in our eyes (as of current entries)
Route
No changes from the route of last year. Good ol' rouleur based course and more difficult than the Quebec race that comes on the Friday prior. The main climb is 2.3km - 6.2% which is nothing to laugh at when you have to do it 18 times. Rolls down into the finish after that but they still have to face an uphill kicker right before the finish line
